Phased Reopening for Rental Groups

We want to assure you that we take the health and well-being of our community, very seriously. Now that Lancaster County has moved to the yellow phase of reopening we are able to begin reopening Camp Conquest.
We have created guidelines that groups must follow while at Camp Conquest. Our guidelines are based on the American Camp Association’s interpretation of CDC Coronavirus guidelines.
Guest Groups need to follow these guidelines until the GREEN phase has ended.

Day Events

Kern Activity Center, the pool and limited outdoor activities are available for rent. These day events are limited to groups of 25 people or less while in the Yellow Phase. Once we enter the green phase, we can accommodate groups up to 100 people.
Kern Activity Center is a great location for church picnics, Sunday small group gatherings, family reunions, and birthday parties. Contact Tim Kachel at 717.336.2541 or retreats@campconquest.org to make a reservation.

Overnight Events

We plan to reopen overnight rental groups in September. If you have a retreat or camp scheduled for July or August, we will be in contact with you soon.
Our Fall Guest Groups will be contacted a month prior to your reservation. We still have a few weekends available in September, October, and November. Please let us know if you are interested in making a reservation.

June 1, 2020

Camp Conquest has closed all programs for June and July 2020.

  • The PA Department of Health has issued guidelines stating that overnight summer camp is not permitted to operate until the Green phase. Without a clear understanding how long Lancaster County will be in the Yellow phase, we have made the decision to cancel all summer camp programs.
  • Please see our FAQ page for additional details.

A message from Michael Gehlert, Director

Today the sun is shining and it is 70 degrees – a perfect day to be at camp. The camp facility looks great with fresh paint, flowers in bloom, and manicured lawns. Looking out at this picture, you would think there is nothing wrong in the world. West Cocalico Township reports zero cases of COVID-19, and all the camp employees are healthy.

So, it is confusing why we must cancel camp this summer. The truth is that not every day is like today. The sun does not always shine and it is not always 70 degrees. In many places, such as Lancaster County and across the country, there are many cases of COVID-19, and not all people are healthy.

Attached is a Frequently Asked Questions document with additional reasons we needed to make the decision to close camp for this season. Primarily, we are not permitted to open at this time.

During uncertain times, we can rest in the certainty of our Sovereign and Personal God. We have a relationship with Jesus Christ who we know will work out all things for His glory. We asked for wisdom, and He brought us to a decision. Therefore we can rest in His peace.

While we are extremely disappointed that summer camp 2020 will not happen, we are excited to see what ministry opportunities will become available. We are expectantly waiting for God to lead us, to those we are to serve, during this new phase of camp ministry – Evangelism and Discipleship beyond the camp setting!

Follow us on social media to stay up to date with this exciting journey of faith for Camp Conquest. We look forward to serving alongside of you soon.

Sincerely,

Michael Gehlert
